USS Arlington (AGMR-2)
1967 "Storm of the Century"

Everyone who made the North Atlantic Cruise in '67 remembers the "Storm of the Century" where we all thought the ship was going to break up!  While going through his memorabilia, Dan Bickham came across copies of the message that went out from a Merchant Ship on the distress frequencies. He sent it along to share it with us. The message was sent by a civilian merchant marine vessel on the Emergency Broadcast frequencies.   We were in the middle of probably what was the worst storm I ever encountered in my 20 years. The Arlington was tossed around like a tug boat.  We lost one or two life boats. Bulkheads even cracked on the Arlington. This merchant ship spotted the Arlington and sent out this distress message.
